All Parties intending to trade, buy or sell energy in the market must complete the Participant registration process. The registration processes consist of two major steps: Step 1: Party registration (for accession to the market): registration as a Party to the Code Step 2: Unit registration (for participation in the market): a Party becomes a Participant by registering Unit(s) |
In order to complete Party Registration the following must be submitted to SEMO Customer Service:
- Application Form for Party Registration
- Accession Deed (2 copies of this document required)
- Accession fee
(Current fees: ROI €1815.00 and NI £1207.48. Fees payable by bank draft only. Please ensure the bank draft is made payable to 'EirGrid and SONI T/A SEMO')
SEMO Customer Service will acknowledge receipt of the application and on receipt of all of the above the Party Registration process will commence.
This process can take up to 60 working days as per the Trading and Settlement Code.
You will be notified in due course by SEMO Customer Services of your Party Registration status and sent a copy of your executed Accession Deed.
It is possible for the Party Application to run concurrently with Unit Application See Code section 2.30: An applicant may submit an application to register units prior to becoming a Party provided that registration of the Unit shall not take effect until application has become a Party.

In order for a Party to participate in the Pool in respect of any Unit, a Party must register that Unit in accordance with the registration procedure provided under Paragraphs 2.30 and 2.112. of the Trading & Settlement Code ('the Code').
In order to complete Unit Registration, a completed registration pack must be submitted to SEMO Customer Services. The pack comprises the following:
- Participation Fee (per unit)
(Current fees: ROI €4235.00 and NI £2817.47. Fees payable by bank draft only. Please ensure the bank draft is made payable to 'EirGrid and SONI T/A SEMO')
- A completed Unit Registration spreadsheet. Please select the relevant document below:

- A completed Finance spreadsheet (for Banking & VAT details)
- A completed Collateral spreadsheet (an estimate of the Market Participant forecast demand for the initial exposure period, to enable credit cover calculations to be performed)
- Form of Authority & Proof of Consent (only applicable to Intermediary applications)
SEMO Customer Services will acknowledge receipt of the application and on receipt of the complete Unit Registration Pack the registration process will commence.This process can take up to 60 working days as per the code.
